Love Story Giveaway: The Invitations

Love Story
Giveaway

When we launched our Love Story Giveaway back in the holiday season of 2023, we never expected the number of entries we had. The stories were so unique, inspiring and just fun to hear about. Since announcing the winner, we are so blessed to be working directly with a few of you who entered. Those of you who voted, helped steer the direction of our design and who would win the invitations. We gave away 150 mini invitations along with custom wax seal design and addressing. Kate and Logan were picked by you and as promised, we are back to show and share a little more about their design journey. (Photo by: Free Your Mind Photography)

They are getting married in September of 2024, so we met (like we always do) six months before their wedding day to revisit their original design. Upon entering this giveaway, they were focusing their formal wedding on old Hollywood meets industrial chic. From December until we met again in March, they had some design changes. While they were apologetic about this, we insisted that it is NORMAL.

If you work with us (or anyone), know that it is okay to change your mind. It is your day and you absolutely can. You should not feel intimidated to share this either. This is exactly why we wait until six months from your wedding day - we know things can change.  It better to wait on designing until six months out so we don't have to do a big pivot throughout the process.

Their changes were not major - they were still keeping their black, white, neutral color pallets. Instead of the old romance and bold black and white, they wanted to steer toward a warmer Italian inspired old world feel with a vintage twist. We still focused their invitations on the whites and blacks but used the taupes to create depth and texture. We updated their design board to incorporate some of the lighter notes.

When we met to discuss their design board and inspiration board - we noticed a focus on high contrast. Some images used high flash photography, others had shadows from window/lighiting - we played on this by featuring a black envelope in their design. One challenge we had was identifying the right combination of typeface for their invitations. We offered them a few options that ultimately drove the design.

Invitations are ordered, and we will be packaging them to ship out shortly. We cannot wait for their guests to see the final product. We promise to share more when we can!
